Dennis Gabor
|
|
(1900–79) Hungarian-born physicist, working in Britain from 1933, who in 1947 invented holography. The first holograms were crude, having to rely on conventional light waves, but they rapidly improved after the invention of the laser (1960) – to become the most popular example of scientific magic. Gabor was awarded the Nobel prize in 1971.
