Elan Valley
|
|
Mountain valley in Powys which for 100 years has supplied Birmingham with water along an aqueduct some 117km/73m long. The great dams for the first reservoirs here, trapping some of the headwaters of the Wye, were built in 1892–1904. The nearby Claerwen reservoir was added in 1952.
