Eglinton Tournament
|
|
(28 Aug. 1839) An elaborately reconstructed medieval tournament, held at Eglinton in the Strathclyde region of Scotland. On what turned out to be a day of torrential rain, young Victorian aristocrats jousted in the lists before a Queen of Beauty in a mood of nostalgia for a more glamorous past inspired by the novels of Walter *Scott.
