Dunadd
|
|
(66km/41m S of Oban) Bleak hilltop near the village of Cairnbaan which has evocative associations in Scottish history. It was the main stronghold of the kingdom of *Dalriada, and according to tradition the Stone of *Scone was the coronation throne here before it began its complicated journeys. In the area just to the north of Dunadd there is an extraordinary concentration of prehistoric sites, with numerous standing stones and cairns from the Stone and Bronze Ages.
