Devil's Bridge
|
|
(16km/10m SE of Aberystwyth) Village where the river Mynach tumbles over spectacular waterfalls to join the Rheidol, with a gorge spanned by three bridges one above the other. The highest is an iron bridge of 1901; below this is a stone bridge of 1753; and closest to the water is another stone bridge, the Devil's Bridge itself, possibly dating from the 12C. The legend tells of an old woman gambling with the devil for her soul in return for his making a bridge to bring across her cow.
