Geoffrey de Havilland

(1882–1965, kt 1944) Aircraft designer and manufacturer, who set up his own company in 1920 after designing fighter planes in World War I. The de Havilland works at Hatfield, in Hertfordshire, produced many of Britain's best-known aircraft including the *Tiger Moth, the *Mosquito, the *Comet and the *Trident.
