Roald Dahl
|
|
(1916–90) Author born in Wales of Norwegian parents. His exotic and often cruel imagination was well suited both to mystery stories for adults and to books which would fascinate children. James and the Giant Peach (1962) was rapidly followed by his greatest success *Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In the 1990s he is consistently among the two or three authors whose books are most borrowed from children's libraries.
