Walter Crane
|
|
(1845–1915) Illustrator whose bold designs in flat blocks of colour (somewhat in the style of Japanese prints) were influential in the development of colour-printed children's books – particularly in his famous series of sixpenny and shilling 'toybooks'. He was much involved with the *Arts and Crafts movement and in the development of art schools.
