bitter
|
|
The standard draught beer in a British pub, traditionally served (to the astonishment of foreigners) at room temperature. The name relates to a slight bitterness given by a high hop content. 'Bitter beer' was in contrast to 'mild beer'. Relatively little drunk now, mild is darker and is made with fewer hops. The two were often mixed in the glass as a 'mild and bitter'.
