Short for Cub Scouts, the junior branch of the *Scouts, established for 8–10-year-olds in 1914 and known as Wolf Cubs until 1966. The adult leader of a Cub Pack is known as Akela (after the head of the wolf pack which adopts Mowgli in The *Jungle Book).
