(16km/10m NW of Windsor) Village on the Thames best known for its link with Stanley *Spencer, who depicted it in many of his visionary paintings such as Christ Preaching at Cookham Regatta or The Resurrection, Cookham. He was born in Cookham, spent much of his working life there, and is commemorated now in the village's Stanley Spencer Gallery.
