The last of the *Eleanor crosses, where the queen's body rested on the final night before her burial in Westminster Abbey. It stood where Whitehall now joins Trafalgar Square, and was pulled down by order of parliament in 1647. A replica was created in 1863 and was placed in the forecourt of Charing Cross station.
