Celtic cross
|
|
Cross of the Latin type (the horizontal bar more than half way up the vertical) with a circle surrounding the point of intersection. The shape may have developed first in metal work but is known in particular from the stone crosses of the 8–10C in Ireland, richly carved with patterns of interlacing lines or small biblical scenes.
