Brig o' Balgownie
|
|
Scotland's oldest bridge, crossing the river Don to the north of Aberdeen – known also as the Auld Brig o' Don (old bridge of Don). Dating from about 1300, it is a single arched span of 19m/62ft. An extra excitement for those on the bridge in horse-riding times was the prediction that it would fall down if crossed by an only son riding a mare's only foal.
