bell ringing
|
|
The specifically British form is 'change ringing', with one ringer to each of the long ropes hanging from the bells in the church tower. They are rung in complex sequences (the changes), with evocative names such as Grandsire Triples or Oxford Treble Bob. Change ringing has spread through the English-speaking world, whereas the keyboard method (known as carillon) has been the convention in continental Europe.
