Battersea Dogs Home
|
|
(London SW8) In 1860 Mrs Mary Tealby founded a 'Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs' in Holloway, and in 1871 it moved to its present premises in Battersea. The purpose of the home is to let owners recover their dogs and to find new homes for healthy unclaimed dogs. In an average week about 400 dogs are brought in. Of these approximately 60 are claimed, 240 are sold to new owners and 100 put down.
