(Trades Union Congress) National association representing the interests of its affiliated *trade unions. It was founded in 1868, and holds an annual congress (normally for four days starting on the first Monday in September). In 1957 it moved into new headquarters, Congress House (London WC1), built as a memorial to trade unionists who died in the two world wars.
