Territorial Army

(TA) The *militia of a district, trained for warfare and able to turn out when required, have long been valued in Britain. The modern Territorial Army, whose members are drafted into the regular army in an emergency, was established in 1908 as part of the military reforms of Lord *Haldane. It is now part of the wider *Volunteer Reserve Forces.
